VHI Transport Founder Back
Honored by National Association
David Gee, CTB, founder of VHI Transport, received the national Heritage Award
at the 30th annual convention of the Transportation Intermediaries
Association (TIA) in
Washington,
DC. This is the highest
award conferred by the association representing third party logistics service
providers nationwide.
Presenting the award, TIA President
and CEO Bob Voltman explained, “Each year, TIA recognizes a person, company or organization for
their significant contribution to the organization and the third party logistics
industry. This year’s award is presented to an individual who has
tirelessly given, and continues to give, his time and talent to TIA and the industry.
David Gee has been a member of the
association for 25 years. He has been chairman of the board of directors.
Of his leadership, Voltman added, “David was instrumental in putting TIA on the path to achieve its potential as the
association of third party logistics companies.”
Gee helped launch the Guaranteed Payment Program; an industry first. He
has taught seminars and shared his knowledge with others through formal and
informal mentoring.
“Today,
he is engaged in an effort to establish an industry reporting and benchmarking
system that has the potential to change the industry for the better for the
foreseeable future,” Voltman continued. “Finally, it
is from David that I have learned more about process than anyone else.”
President of VHI, Bruce
Gee, stated, “We at VHI congratulate our company founder on
this outstanding recognition. Dad has set a standard of volunteering and
mentoring that is a guiding light for those of us now in leadership positions
within the firm. We strive to achieve the standards of excellence he has
established and to give back to the industry and the community, as he has.”
