Bruce Gee Named VHI President Back
Chester, VA - July 17, 2006 - David A. “Bruce” Gee has been named president of VHI, Inc., a third party transportation management firm headquartered in Chester, VA. Announcement was made by David E. Gee, Sr. CEO of the firm.
Since 2001, Bruce Gee has served as Chief Financial Officer of the company. Before that, he was general manager for five years. In 1991, he began the LTL program for the firm after learning the business from the ground up, as dispatcher and later dispatch manager.
VHI, formerly known as Virginia Hiway, is one of the fastest growing transportation intermediaries in the country. After being headquartered in Richmond for a quarter century, the firm moved its operation to new, much larger headquarters in Chester, last October. The firm now has divisions for truckload movement, logistics, dedicated lanes, air expedited freight, tankers, flat beds and international containers, handled through intermodal transport.
In transferring leadership of the firm to his son, David Gee stated, “Bruce has developed a specific business philosophy, which he has integrated into the company, “Treat people the way that you want to be treated, hire people who are smarter than you in their specialty and enjoy the ride.” With this approach, we expect the company to continue to grow and prosper under his leadership.”
VHI provides transportation services to large and mid-sized manufacturers, distributors and suppliers throughout North America. Its Container Division handled imports and exports worldwide from major American seaport.
A resident of Chester County, Gee and his wife Tonya have two sons and twin daughters.
